About
Small-business IT, looked after on purpose.
OrbitLink IT is an Austin technology company that helps small businesses keep their technology understandable and looked after. Remote help is available.
Why we exist
Good support keeps the setup understandable.
Most small companies already have the tools: computers, email, shared files, a website, and accounts that grew one person at a time. What is often missing is a clear picture of how those pieces fit, and someone responsible for keeping them that way.
OrbitLink exists to do that work in plain language. We look at what you have, say what matters first, and carry out the practical changes—with a record the business can keep.
The usual situation
Technology gets messy in ordinary ways.
These are ordinary operational problems. They show up while a business is working, not only after something has already failed.
- 01
The owner is the help desk
Password resets, new accounts, and a computer that will not connect land on the person who is also running the company.
- 02
The tools have no map
Email, files, the website, and a handful of apps were added as they were needed. It is not always clear what is in use, or who can administer it.
- 03
Access outlives the person
A former teammate, a shared login, or an old vendor can still get in, because removing access was never a defined job.
- 04
The basics are assumed
Backups, mail delivery, and sign-in are treated as finished until a laptop goes missing or a message never arrives.
Why a partner matters
A partner gives the knowledge a place to live.
A single repair can be the right job. The next hire, the next computer, and the next mailbox change still need somewhere to go.
Good IT support gives ordinary problems a place to land, writes down the setup, and agrees the next change before it becomes a surprise.
We would rather explain the work than impress you with it.
How we approach the work
Plain language, a clear scope, and a written record.
The same habits apply whether you need one project or an ongoing relationship.
The sequence of a new engagement is on the How it works page.
- 01
Start from what you have
Recommendations come from your devices, accounts, and the problem in front of you—not from a package we apply to every business.
- 02
Separate urgent from later
We say what is blocking the week, what can wait, and what is working well enough to leave alone.
- 03
Agree before the work grows
A review can become a project, or it can become managed IT. That choice is explicit.
- 04
Leave a record
What you have, what changed, and how to ask for help should not depend on one person’s memory.
Managed IT is the relationship.
Ongoing care for the computers, accounts, and core systems a small team uses is the center of the practice. Security, support, business systems, networking projects, and websites sit beside it.
Any of those can also be a single project. Ongoing management is a choice, not a requirement for help with email, a network change, or a website.
What the work includes is written down before it starts. If a problem needs a specialist, we will say so.
